Experimental evaluation of out-of-plane strength of masonry walls retrofitted with oriented strand board

چکیده

Structural retrofitting is carried out as an economical alternative to demolishing and rebuilding existing masonry structures. Retrofitting provided offer structural upgrade damage-control. This paper presents the application of oriented strand board type 3 (OSB/3) for unreinforced walls. Out-of-plane bending test in form four-point loading was performed on six The results show that OSB/3 can considerably increase load flexure capacity by (1.4 & 1.8), limiting-toughness (1.6 2.4) overall-toughness (16 10) times compared plain wall subjected out-of-plane (single double-sided) respectively.

A homogenization approach for the limit analysis of out-of-plane loaded masonry walls

This paper addresses the usage of a simplified homogenization technique for the analysis of masonry subjected to out-of-plane loading. The anisotropic failure surface, based on the definition of a polynomial representation of the stress tensor components in a finite number of sub-domains, is combined with finite element triangular elements employed for the upper and lower bound limit analyses. ...
